(2014) This July and August, new works of art by classical and contemporary artists are being presented around New York. At The Frick Collection, prosaic paintings of war and military life by the master Jean-Antoine Watteau's are now on view, along with a recently rediscovered work never before exhibited to the public. From summer through the fall, the Guggenheim presents an installation by Julien Bismuth, coinciding with the expansion of the museum's Cafe 3. In September, the gallery duo Suzanne Demisch and Stephane Danant are inaugurating their new New York gallery with the exhibtion made in France. The new season's program includes new works by Maria Pergay, seminal works by Étienne Fermigier, and a series of talks and panels on French design and art. PS1 from Sept. 16 - 18. The fair is a must-see for art and print lovers, and will kick off with a preview on Sept. 15. As part of NYABF16, Albertine bookstore will host a special event on Sept. 14, Performing Language: an evening of live readings by photographer Erica Baum, artist-writer Marcelline Delbecq, and poet Kenneth Goldsmith. Guest curated by Béatrice Gross. The James Gallery at the CUNY Graduate Center will present Alison Knowles's poem, House of Dust, and her subsequent built structures of the same name.
