THE BRIDGE Nº1
Featuring Artists:
Jean-Luc Cappozzo - trumpe, flugelhorn
Douglas R. Ewart - Woodwinds, sound objects
Joëlle Léandre - double bass
Bernard Santacruz - double bass
Michael Zerang - drums, percussion

This quintet of free sprits – living at the crossroads, seeking to liberate them – was brought together by magnetic forces in October 2013, for the very first exploratory trip organized by The Bridge in France. They discovered for themselves a multiple identity and a band name: Sonic Communion. The Bridge is exceptionally proud to launch with such an ensemble the second phase of its activities: the beginning of the “return matches” on the other side of the Atlantic, in order to fulfill the initial wish of reciprocity between musicians and societies.

THE BRIDGE Nº8
Featuring Artists:
Ernest Khabeer Dawkins - saxophones
Antonon-tri Hoang - alto saxophone, clarinet
Mars Williams - saxophones, clarinet
Samuel Silvant - drums

Like all the French-American ensembles that cross The Bridge for the first time, the members of this quartet have never played together, save for a few preparation sessions between each saxophonist and the drummer. Three saxophones and one drum kit, a mountain range, torrents gushing down its hills, lava flows thickening its sides, and lifts that are anything but mechanical - the ascensions of John Coltrane.

4/28 and 5/5: The Whistler: Relax Jazz Attack Serie
