These trainings and workshops are offered by the Cultural Service at the French Consulate in Houston and local partners. Trainings are led by educators specialized in French as a foreign language and cover a large variety of themes. Sign up now to improve your skills and update your knowledge on contemporary France! Developed in the framework of the exhibition "Intimate Impressionism from the National Gallery" at the McNay Art Museum, Bernard Gruas will present how to use graphic art as a teaching tool in the French classroom. This training program explains how to improve students’ understanding of the French language, how to encourage their oral expression through creative and entertaining activities and how to introduce them to the arts and French civilization.

Educators will learn how to use authentic documents and literary texts - for instance letters and testimonies from the Great War - to design interactive learning activities, thus increasing student engagement. Bernard Gruas will provide educators with teaching methods and tools – applicable to all ages and levels – to improve students’ understanding of the French language, encourage written and spoken expression, and connect students to French history and civilization. This training is organized on the occasion of the World War I centennial.

Specially created for teachers of French in the United States, this online training, entitled “La France en movement” (France in movement), will allow you to be updated on the current social and cultural issues in France. You will be able to practice your French, spoken and written. A part of the training will be dedicated to gathering authentic documents to be used in the classroom. During the 30 hours of class, 20 hours will be dedicated to autonomous work (at your convenience) and 10 hours will be dedicated to a live session with a tutor and other participants on an online-platform (either Tuesday or Thursdays, at the end of the afternoon or evening, at a specific time).
