emphasizes nature’s constant presence in the immediate environment and spiritual life of men and women in the Middle Ages. The exhibition, organized by the Musée de Cluny, musée national du Moyen Âge, Paris, presents more than 100 objects that reflect the wide range of styles, techniques, and iconography that flourished during this period. In 1886, French art dealer Paul Durand-Ruel exhibited almost 300 Impressionist paintings in New York, introducing enlightened Americans to modern French painting. In doing so, he not only filled great American collections with Impressionist masterworks, but kept Impressionism alive at a time when it faced complete failure. This energetic film screening at the Kimbell Art Museum tells his remarkable story along with that of the Impressionists themselves.
