230 years ago, on July 14th, 1789, the people of Paris stormed la Bastille, a fortress-prison that held political prisoners. All are invited to celebrate la Fête Nationale and the historic friendship between la République Française and the United States. This event offers fun for everyone, families included, with a kid's table offered between 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM.

Scullers Jazz Club
400 Soldiers Field Road
Boston, MA 02134

Vincent Peirani is probably the most exciting musician from the European Jazz scene at the moment.

After getting 2 French Jazz awards "Victoire du Jazz" in 2015 and 2016, 3 German "Echoes Jazz" awards in 2016 and 2017, and performing more than 500 concerts all over the world, Peirani has started his North-American and Canadian tour in June 2019.

Peirani collaborated with many artists: Sanseverino, Stromae and Gaël Faye, among others. He also composed film music, in 2017, for Matthieu Almaric's Barbara.

On his latest album, with his group Living Being, Peirani integrates into his already unusual musical world the powerful sound of rock music, with several themes borrowed from the legendary Seventies rock group, Led Zeppelin.

Tickets starting at $25. Door opens at 6:30 PM.

Museum of Fine Arts
Ann and Graham Gund Gallery (Gallery LG31)
465 Huntington Ave.
Boston, MA 02115

This exhibit features celebrities of 19th-century Paris made famous by renowned French artist, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, who captured the spectacle of the fin de siècle in evocative posters, prints, and paintings.

“Toulouse-Lautrec and the Stars of Paris” explores the celebrity culture of Lautrec’s time and his fascination with the personal lives of the stars along with the roles that they played. With expressive lines and brazen colors, Lautrec depicted the defining gestures, costumes, and expressions of spectacular performers, many of whom were his personal friends.

The exhibition includes nearly 200 works and is composed of thematic sections highlighting Lautrec’s formal innovations, such as dramatic lighting effects and color combinations. The display also incorporates works by Lautrec’s contemporaries Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt, Pierre Bonnard, and others - presenting him in the context of his
heroes, peers, and followers.

Organized by the MFA in partnership with the Boston Public Library, the exhibition draws on both institutions’ rich holdings, and includes loans of paintings and graphic arts from both public and private collections.

For this occasion, the Musée d'Orsay loaned several works of art, including Boy with a Cat (1868) and Study: Torso, Effect of Sun (c. 1876).

Paintings from Delacroix and Rubens are also contributed to celebrate the representation of body in art.
