DALLAS, TX I APRIL 10

The discussion "Building Bridges Between Dallas and the International Art World" presented by Muriel Quancard, founder of art advisory firm OPUS, will highlight the value of cultural exchange. Seasoned art professionals will share their experience of curating, collecting, and representing artists both locally and globally. They will explore ideas of cross-cultural collecting and exhibition making, and examine the impact of economic relations on artistic production and distribution.

This event is organized by the FACC Dallas & the Alliance Française of Dallas as part of the Dallas Art Fair

The Dallas Symphony Orchestra hosts a musical installation at the Dallas Art Fair on April 9th as a prelude to the inaugural SOLUNA, the new annual music and arts festival taking place in Dallas on May 4-24, 2015. Featuring de-finition/method listening to painting / looking at music, 2015, an installation by celebrated French artist Claude Rutault.

HOUSTON, TX I APRIL 14 - MAY 30

The work of French-Argentine artist, Marie Orensanz is on view at Sicardi Gallery in Houston this month. Marie Orensanz began her artistic career studying painting with two of the foundational artists of Argentine Modernism: Emilio Pettoruti and Antonio Seguí. An active member of the art scene in Buenos Aires in the 1960s and the 1970s, she participated in numerous exhibitions and cultural activities there before moving to Paris in 1975.

The artist and French curator Domitille d'Orgeval will be present for the opening nights of the exhibit

French artist Sébastien Rémy is in residency at the Southern Methodist University this month. He will present the second opus of his project "Nameless Series" in which he travels across the US visiting sites where artist Lee Lozano lived and worked.

"Becoming Modern: Nineteenth-Century French Drawings" is on view at the Menil Collection. This exhibition celebrates the remarkable holdings of French drawings at the Morgan Library & Museum and the Menil Collection, institutions with an ongoing collaboration to foster meaningful conversation about drawing.

TEXAS A&M - COLLEGE STATION, TX I APRIL 15 & 16

Pascal Bruckner is a world renowned essayist and novelist whose works have been translated in thirty countries. He is giving two lectures at Texas A&M University this month "Civil Society, Public Opinion, and the Russian Invasion of Ukraine” on April 15th at the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs and “Corporeal Memory, Intellectual Memory” on April 16th at the Glasscok Center for Humanities.

Sphinx (Grasset, 1986) is the debut novel of the inventive French author Anne Garréta, one of the few female members of OuLiPo. This influential and experimental French literary group aims to create literature based on mathematical and linguistic restraints. The novel was translated by Emma Ramadan (Deep Vellum Publishing, Dallas 2015).
