On September 14, 2019, the Friends of North Bloomfield & Malakoff Diggins and California State Parks will jointly commemorate the French heritage of the park in a delightful small-town festival.

Presented at BAMPFA from September 18 to November 17, MATRIX 274, Kader Attia’s first solo exhibition in California, presents his seminal work J’accuse (2016). The installation features seventeen busts carved out of teak wood that Attia produced, assisted by Senegalese craftsmen, utilizing images of disfigured World War I veterans who suffered severe facial injuries and subsequently underwent plastic surgery. On September 18 (6pm), Kader Attia will be in conversation with Stefania Pandolfo, professor of anthropology at UC Berkeley.

On September 29, do not miss the screening of "16 Sunrises" (16 Levers de soleil), which follows the six months journey of French astronaut Thomas Pesquet and his fellow astronauts in their lives on the International Space Station, 450 kilometers from Earth. Director Pierre-Emmanuel Le Goff will be in attendance!

Mill Valley Film Festival will kick off on October 3, but tickets are already on sale! This year's lineup includes an impressive number of French and Francophone films, including Les Misérables (Ladj Ly), Grâce à Dieu (François Ozon), Frankie (Ira Sachs), Synonyms (Nadav Lapid), Serendipity (Prune Nourry), and many more!
