ARTISTIC FUNDS

CALL FOR PROPOSALS | APPLICATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 2, 2020.

FUSED: French U.S. Exchange in Dance fosters dialogue, strengthens professional relationships, and sparks creative artistry through cultural exchanges by introducing choreographers and performers whose works had never or rarely been seen in the partner country. As such, artists founded by the program achieve international recognition and reach new audiences.

The success of this program led to its expansion: co-produced projects by artist from Africa, the Carribean and the Middle East and a French cultural institution are now eligible to the grant.

Call for proposals is open until February 2, 2020.

FACE Contemporary Theater fosters innovative artistic collaborations and co-productions in theater, and contributes to a dynamic intercultural dialogue between France and the United States. It aims to encourage projects that push aesthetic boundaries and reflect the cultural and artistic diversity seen in theater today.

In order to promote a multiplicity of voices and intercultural dialogues, co-produced projects by artists from Africa, the Caribbean, the Middle East and French cultural institutions ar now eligible to the grant.

Call for proposals for the next grant cycle is open until February 2, 2020.

CALL FOR PROPOSALS | APPLICATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 20, 2020.

Étant donnés Contemporary Art aims to strengthen ties between France and the U.S. in the field of contemporary art by fostering active collaboration and encouraging long-lasting partnerships between French visual artists, curators, and collectives and American curators and cultural institutions. The fund supports the discovery of emerging talents, while also sustaining interest in established artists. Furthermore, it has been instrumental in creating a network of curators from France and the U.S. Since its inception, Étant donnés has developed an international reputation by allocating over $3 million to fund more than 300 projects and 19 curators.

Call for proposals deadline is January 20, 2020.

The Jazz & New Music program – a formerly two independent programs: French American Jazz Exchange and New Music – is designed to encourage the creative and professional development of French jazz and contemporary composers, musicians and ensembles in the U.S.

Jazz & New Music Program is a program of FACE Foundation and the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States, with support from the Florence Gould Foundation, the French Ministry of Culture, Institut français-Paris, and Société des Auteurs et Compositeurs de Musique (SACEM). Additional support for women artists has been provided by CHANEL Fund for Women in the Arts and Culture.

Call for proposals deadline is March 2, 2020.

VISUAL ART - EXHIBITIONS

UNTIL JANUARY 19, 2020 | SCAD MUSEUM OF ART | EVANS GALLERY SAVANNAH, GA 601 TUNER BLVD.

SCAD Museum of Art presents The Golden March, a new public art commission and the first museum solo exhibition in the U.S. by Raphaël Barontini. 

"The Golden March" comprises two parts: a performance in collaboration with a local high school marching band and a site-specific installation of new work for the four iconic Jewel Boxes lining the facade of the museum.

While influenced by Caribbean thinkers such as Edouard Glissant, Barontini's work explores issues of representation and race.

The exhibition is curated by Storm Janse van Rensburg and has been made possible with additional funding from Étant donnés Contemporary Art, a program of the French American Cultural Exchange (FACE) Foundation.

PERMANENT COLLECTION

HIGH MUSEUM | 1280 PEACHTREE ST NE, ATLANTA, GA 30309

Late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries French masterworks were given this year to the High Museum by Doris and Souky Shaheen. 

Collected over four decades, this impressive collection of paintings includes works from the pre-Impressionist realism to the expressive modernism through the Impressionism. 

Eugène Boudin, Claude Monet, Henri Matisse are among the artists on display from now to every visit of the High Museum.

CINEMA

FEBRUARY 3, 2020, 6:30PM GLOBAL MEDIA FEST | GEORGIA TECH

Through the meeting of three emblematic communities of the "Second Life" virtual universe - furries, Goreans and Christian evangelists -, the film questions the porosity between real life and virtual life. For these players, the real / virtual border disappears, until it loses meaning, as both are closely intertwined and influence each other directly.

The Film screening and discussion with the Film director Alain Della Negra will be held at Georgia Tech.

The full line-up will be enveiled in January.

Inspired by the 2005 riots in Paris, Les Misérables members of a Parisian anti-crime squad become overwhelmed by simmering neighborhood tension and violence.

Les Misérables - directed by Ladj Ly - follows Stephane (Damien Bonnard), a recent transplant to the impoverished suburb of Montfermeil, as he joins the local anti-crime squad. Working alongside his unscrupulous colleagues Chris (Alexis Manenti) and Gwada (Djebril Zonga), Stephane struggles to maintain order amidst the mounting tensions between local gangs. When an arrest turs unexpectedly violent, the three officers must reckon with the aftermath and keep the neighborhood from spiraling out of control.

CONGRATULATIONS TO THIS YEAR'S GRANTEES

8 universities in the Southeast have been selected by the Tournées Film Festival committee. Stayed connected to discover their films selection and dates of screening.

This program of the FACE Foundation, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, aims to bring French cinema to American colleges and university campuses. Our objective in providing nearly $200,000 in Tournées Film Festival grants every year is to fund festival endeavors that can eventually become permanent and self-sustaining.

MY FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL ONLINE

JANUARY 16 UNTIL FEBRUARY 16, 2020

The 10th edition of MyFrenchFilmFestival is coming soon!
From January 16 to February 16, moviegoers from around the world will have access to the films of the 10th edition of the first world festival of French cinema online created by UniFrance.

This year, the films will be available on more than 50 VOD platforms around the world and subtitles in 10 languages: French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German, Japanese, Russian, Polish and Korean.

Posts are invited to give the widest possible response to this event to their partners and the general public.

Supported by MEAE and the CNC, this online festival presents for 1 month.

LA FEMIS

INTERNATIONAL EXAM | DEADLINE TO REGISTER JANUARY 10, 2020.

Under the responsability of the Ministry of Culture and Communication, La Fémis trains students on various film-related disciplines such as directing, producing, screenwriting, editing, sound production, production design, continuity, distribution and cinema management. Courses and programs are taught by a network of over 500 professionals.

Registrations for the international competitive exam are open until January 10, 2020.
