Le Lieutenant-gouverneur Jay Dardenne, en charge de la culture et du tourisme et avec autorité sur le CODOFIL (Conseil pour le Développement du Français en Louisiane), s’est rendu en France du 16 au 23 octobre. M. Dardenne s’est déplacé à Paris, en région Rhône-Alpes, en Bretagne et en Normandie.

- A Paris

M. Dardenne, accompagné du Sénateur Eric Lafleur, du Représentant à la Chambre de Louisiane, M. Stephen Ortego, du Maire de Lafayette, M. Joey Durel, du Président du CODOFIL, M. Bill Arceneaux, de l’adjointe au Superintendant à l'Education, Mme Erin Bendily et de la Présidente de Louisiana Public Broadcasting, Mme Beth Courtney, a été reçu au Ministère des Affaires Etrangères le 17 octobre par la Ministre déléguée, en charge de la Francophonie, Mme Yamina Benguigui afin de signer les nouveaux Accords franco-louisianais de coopération éducative, culturelle et linguistique. Le lieutenant-gouverneur s'est entretenu avec des parlementaires français au Sénat. M. Dardenne a également rencontré le Secrétaire-Général de l’OIF, M. Abdou Diouf et la Directrice générale de l’UNESCO, Mme Irina Bukova.
M. Dardenne était accompagné d’une mission économique louisianaise comprenant une vingtaine de représentants d’entreprises et de responsables économiques. Une réception au siège de la Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris le 16 octobre a permis une série de contacts avec la cinquantaine de représentants économiques français participants. Les représentants de SNF et Gameloft ont partagé leur expérience en tant que sociétés françaises ayant fait le choix d’investir récemment en Louisiane.

- En Rhône Alpes

M. Dardenne a participé à un séminaire économique organisé par ERAI, avec la participation du Vice-Président du Conseil Régional en charge de l’économie, le député de la Loire M. Jean-Louis Gagnaire et à une rencontre, présidée par le sénateur Jean Besson, avec Rhône-Alpes Tourisme. Une rencontre-déjeuner à l’Institut Paul Bocuse a permis d’évoquer avec différents représentants politiques, universitaires et scolaires les possibilités d’échanges dans le domaine du tourisme, de la gastronomie et de l’hôtellerie.

Une visite du siège de l’entreprise SNF à Andrézieux, a permis de rencontrer les responsables de cette entreprise française qui a récemment réalisé un investissement important en Louisiane. Une rencontre à Lyon avec le pôle de compétitivité IMAGINOVE, a permis également, après le contact à Paris avec Cap DIGITAL, d’examiner les possibilités de coopération dans le numérique, le « digital media », secteur en plein développement en Louisiane.

- En Bretagne

A Rennes, les rencontres prévues ont permis de sceller des accords de coopération pour la formation des enseignants louisianais de français avec l’université de Bretagne occidentale et des échanges éducatifs et scolaires avec le rectorat de l’Académie de Rennes.
A La Gacilly, les rencontres furent l’occasion de fonder un nouveau partenariat entre les Articulteurs, collectif du pays de Redon concevant, réalisant et diffusant des actions culturelles innovantes créant du développement économique et du lien social en valorisant les hommes et le patrimoine d’un territoire, et Nunu Arts & Culture Collective  leur alter ego en pays acadien. Les Articulteurs et Nunu Arts & Culture Collective porteront l’organisation de la 3eme édition de la Semaine française autour du concept d’économie culturelle et du développement des territoires à Arnaudville en avril 2013.
M. Dardenne a participé à Rennes le 19 octobre au festival du Grand Soufflet, avec l’artiste louisianais Clifton Chénier Jr.

- En Normandie

Le Lieutenant-gouverneur a visité le Mémorial de CAEN et les plages du débarquement.
Il s’est recueilli sur les tombes de soldats louisianais au cimetière américain de Colleville s/mer et a reçu lors d’une cérémonie à Caen la plaque d’un soldat louisianais trouvé par un jeune habitant de la région, M. Laurent Meslier.

- In Paris

Mr. Dardenne, accompanied by Senator Eric Lafleur, Louisiana representative, Mr. Stephen Ortego, the Mayor of Lafayette, Mr. Joey Durel, the president of CODOFIL, Dr Bill Arceneaux, the Deputy Superintendent for Education and Ms Beth Courtney, President of Louisiana Public Broadcasting, met with Mrs. Yamina Benguigui, French Deputy Foreign Minister in charge of Francophonie on October 17th at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  to sign the new Louisiana-France Accords on French language educational and cultural cooperation. The Lieutenant governor met several members of the Parliament at the Senate. M. Dardenne met also with Mr. Abdou Diouf, Secretary-General of OIF and the Director General of UNESCO, Ms. Irina Bukova.  Mr. Dardenne had also the opportunity to promote tourism in Louisiana  with French media and tour-operators.
Mr Dardenne was accompanied by a Louisiana trade mission. A networking reception at the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris on October 16th and several meetings with French companies and competitive clusters were organized to foster also the bilateral economic ties.

- In the Rhône-Alpes region

The Lieutenant governor and a part of the Louisiana trade mission participated in an economic seminar organized by ERAI, in presence of several elected officials from the Regional Council, and a meeting with Senator Jean Besson and Rhône-Alpes Tourisme. Mr. Dardenne visited SNF’s headquarters in Andrézieux; the French company made recently an important investment in Louisiana . A meeting with IMAGINOVE digital media cluster allowed for exchanges on the potential cooperation since this sector is in development in Louisiana.

- In Brittany

The different meetings gave the opportunity for the signing of cooperation agreements to help train the teachers of - and in - French from Louisiana at the Western Brittany University and to promote students exchanges with the Académie de Rennes. Mr. Dardenne met also with Les Articulteurs in La Gacilly, association creating, producing and promoting innovative cultural actions creating economic and social development to help the people to keep their living heritage in their region. The partner association in Louisiana, NuNu Arts Collective and Les Articulteurs will organize the “French Week” on cultural economy in Louisiana in 2013. Mr Dardenne went on stage with Clifton Chénier Jr on October 19th, at the Festival Le Grand Soufflé in Rennes, which highlighted this year the music from Louisiana.

- In Normandy

The Lieutenant governor visited the WWII Mémorial in Caen and the D-Day beaches. A wreath laying ceremony at the graves of Louisiana soldiers in Colleville s/mer as well as the handing over by a citizen from Caen of a “dogtag” he found from a WWII Louisiana veteran at the Caen Museum were the main events during this part of the visit.

A la suite du déplacement du Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra (GNOYO) à Dunkerque en juin 2011, l’Orchestre Junior du Conservatoire de Dunkerque vient à son tour se produire en Louisiane. 29 personnes sont à La Nouvelle-Orléans du 29 octobre au 5 novembre 2012.

Philippe Entremont, an internationally renowned pianist and composer and former music director of the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra, will return to New Orleans on Friday, December 7th to perform the “Triple Concerto,” one of Beethoven’s most celebrated concertos at Loyola University New Orleans.
The performance begins at 7:30 pm in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall, at the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Calhoun Street.

With Entremont on piano, the performance will also feature the Loyola Symphonic Orchestra, directed by Jean Montès, D.M.A., and Amy Thiaville on violin and Allen Nisbet on cello.
