All interested students and teachers are invited to Bancroft's 6th edition of French Immersion Day, held on Saturday, January 25th - 9:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Join students from your school and other schools for a fun day of cultural exploration and interactive workshops tout en français (All in French). Cooking, Pop Music Culture, and Drama, are on the program for this year. Register by January 21 to secure your spot. ($25 with Breakfast and Lunch included). All levels welcome.

Congratluations to Rebecca Blouwolff, recently named the 2020 American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages Teacher of the Year.

Madame Blouwolff has been a French teacher at Wellesley Middle School since 1998. We are very proud to have a French teacher from our region named to this prestigious position, and look forward to working with her over the next year to promote the French language.

We were pleased to meet with her at the Consulate to discuss ways to support the French language in New England.

During his visit to the French American School of Rhode Island, Consul general Mentré bestowed the prestigious Academic Palmes on Louise Jakobson, Director of Advancement.

The 'Ordre des Palmes académiques' is a national order of the French government designed to recognize those who have worked for the promotion of the French language and culture in an academic context.

Louise Jakobson has held several positions at the French American School of Rhode Island over the past 17 years, and has been critical in the school's growth and strong reputation in the Rhode Island community.

In January 2020, the Alliance Française of Newport will offer three opportunities for study of French language and culture: Beginning French, Intermediate French and "The Salon" Advanced Conversation Group. Registration, on a first-come-first-served basis, will open on December 30th and will run until the classes are full.

Classes will be taught by Salve Regina University Professor, Dean de la Motte, Ph.D., Professor of French and Comparative Literature.

The fee is $100 for Beginning French or Intermediate French and $50 for The Salon - Advanced Conversation Group. For those not already members of the Alliance Française of Newport, an additional membership fee of $45 will be charged.

Les universités - BELC sont des formations pour les professionnels de l'éducation et du français, exerçant en France ou à l'étranger, dans les domaines de l’enseignement, de l’évaluation, de la formation et du pilotage de programme et d’établissements culturels et éducatifs. Elles offrent aux participants l'occasion de faire évoluer leurs pratiques professionnelles et de soutenir un projet de carrière. Elles permettent également des échanges entre pairs ainsi que des moments de rencontres avec les acteurs de la coopération linguistique et éducative.

L’université d'hiver - BELC 2020 se tiendra du 17 février au 28 février 2020, à Sèvres, dans les locaux de France Éducation International.
Destiné aux enseignants et aux cadres éducatifs, le programme est composé de 28 modules intensifs de 15 heures chacun, auxquels s’ajoutent des conférences, des tables rondes, des rencontres professionnelles et des activités culturelles.
