A Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) mini-festival showcasing new Francophone cinema, with spectacular performances from celebrated actors in diverse films, explosive dramas to unpredictable comedies and historical epics to family-friendly animation. This week-long event will feature more than 18 extraordinary features and documentaries.

The Mill Valley Film Festival has an impressive track record of launching new films and new filmmakers, and has earned a reputation as a filmmakers’ festival by celebrating the best in American independent and foreign films, along side high-profile and prestigious award contenders. Each year the festival welcomes more than 200 filmmakers, representing more than 50 countries. Many French and Francophone films are part of the program this year.

The 6th annual San Francisco Dance Film Festival, features dance films from around the world, special events and discussions with local and international filmmakers, choreographers, and special guests. French and Francophone programs are part of the line-up this year !

3rd i’s 13th annual San Francisco International South Asian Film Festival runs Oct 22-25, and celebrates Freedoms, with stories from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the South Asian Diaspora. The 18th United Nations Association Film Festival (UNAFF) will be held from October 15-25, 2015 in Palo Alto, Stanford University, East Palo Alto and San Francisco. This year's theme RUNNING OUT OF TIME continues the ongoing celebration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and focuses on time-sensitive aspects of the Millennium Development Goals. French co-productions will be presented as part of this year's festival.

Two large-scale sculptures from French artist Jean-Michel Othoniel were installed last week: La Rose des Vents at the Conservatory of Flowers in Golden Gate Park, and  Peony, The Knot of Shame at 836M Gallery.

Suyama Space presents "The Seattle Floor", an in situ installation by France-based artist Veit Stratmann.

Fiston Mwanza Mujila's debut novel, Tram 83, plunged the reader into the modern African gold rush, caused a literary sensation upon its publication in France. Fiston Mwanza Mujila will be presenting his novel at Litquake 2015 !

The Elliott Bay Book Company will be hosting Francophone author Fiston Mwanza Mujila for an author reading and discussion in the intimate setting of their reading room.
