The Cultural Service of the French Embassy is proud to support Michel Blazy’s new exhibition We Were the Robots, presented by the Moody Center for the Arts at Rice University from January 26 to May 18, as a key part of the Moody's spring exhibition program. Admission is free.

Exhibiting for the first time in Texas, French artist Michel Blazy (b. 1966) is known for working with live and mutating materials in projects that bring attention to the natural transformation of matter over time, with elements of poetry and humor. The site-specific installation, which features burnt transport pallets depicting robots and animals working on the ruins of a post-apocalyptic landscape represents a world that tries to become alive again on the consumed remains of an absurd way of life. It will be presented in the framework of A Night of Philosophy and Ideas, addressing the theme of ecology.

The installation is supported by the Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Houston and is a grantee of the FACE Foundation - Étant donnés Contemporary Art program.
