Franco-Algerian artist Kader Attia is currently in residency at ArtPace San Antonio. A group exhibit will showcase his work alongside the works of N’Gone Fall, Margaret Meehan (Dallas, TX) and Jungeun Lee (Frisco, TX) from July 10th to September 14th, 2014.

Every evening “San Antonio I The Saga” a captivating video art installation is on view on the magnificent façade of San Fernando Cathedral. Created by renowned French Artist, Xavier de Richemont, this 7,000-sq.-ft. projection with custom choreographed music in surround sound will narrate the historical discovery, settlement and development of San Antonio. The projection will continue until 2024.

Fieldwork: Marfa is the joint project of two leading European art academies, Les Beaux-Arts de Nantes and HEAD – Genève (Geneva University of Art and Design). This international researcher-in-residence program is dedicated to the practice of art in public space, critical approaches to landscape and borders and artistic projects based on field investigation methods. Located in Marfa, Texas, this unique platform is intended for emerging artists, curators and researchers whose projects require immersion into the specific environment of Marfa and Texas territory, and encourages the development of experimental research methods, diverse modes of inquiries and fieldwork practices.

Tournées Festival is a program of FACE (French American Cultural Exchange), in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, which aims to bring French cinema to American college and university campuses. The goal is to facilitate the organization of festivals on campuses, thus nurturing the appreciation of French film. Don’t miss this great opportunity to develop a French films festival with considerable financial and promotional support.  In addition to five contemporary French films, Tournées participants will now also select a film from the list of French classics that were restored/re-released in the U.S. in 2013.

If you organize your festival during the month of March, the Cultural service at the French Consulate will be able to include it in the official calendar of the French Cultures Festival (mois de la francophonie) thus adding its visibility.

Commemorating the storming of the Bastille on 14th July 1789, Bastille Day takes place on the same date each year. The main event is a grand military parade along the Champs-Élysées, attended by the President of the Republic and other political leaders. It is accompanied by fireworks and publics celebrations.

This year, the Fête Nationale will be celebrated on the evening of Monday, July 14 at Awty International School
