With festival season swiftly coming upon us, over a dozen top French and Francophone musicians, artists, directors, actors, galerists etc... are coalescing upon the Southwest during the month of April.

David Guetta, Stromae, Yelle, Madeon, Christine and the Queens, Lilly Wood and the Prick, Magma, Martin Solveig, Gesaffelstein, Brodinski, Kistuné, Cedric Gervais, DJ Snake, Keren Ann, IAM... This month goes without precedent for the sheer number of Francophone concerts that will take place until April 30th.

April is also the the month of French Cinema with COLCOA, a 9 days of French Films Premieres in Hollywood (April 20 -28) and the American Cinematheque celebrating Agnes Varda.

Visual art and photo will be featured at the end of the month with Vincent Lamouroux's Projection and the third edition of Paris Photo Los Angeles.

18th Street Arts Center debuts Paris-based artist Rebecca Bournigault’s first solo exhibition, Substance, in Los Angeles, to be on display until April 24. Working with themes of attraction and revulsion, Bournigault inherits and updates feminist concerns around the body and sexuality for a 21st century audience. Discussion on the exhibitions will be held on April 19 from 2-3pm with Laddie John Dill at the Center. READ MORE

Fabien Castanier Gallery will present OFF THE SHELF, a solo exhibition by Luke Newton. The exhibition will run from April 4 - 25. Newton is a young British artist currently living and working in Paris, and this will be his debut solo exhibition in the United States. READ MORE
“Existence”, an exhibition exploring personal experience as articulated through art opened on March 16. It features the work of French artist J.F. Podevin as well as artists Greg S. Gilday and Janice Lowry. It will be running until April 16th at the Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion Main Gallery at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa. READ MORE
The Norton Simon Museum and the Musée d’Orsay will present an installation of three paintings from the Musée d’Orsay’s renowned collection of Impressionist art, in the spring of 2015 (March 27 – June 22), with simultaneous exhibitions in Pasadena and Paris. READ MORE

Israeli-French duo Lilly Wood & the Prick are coming to Los Angeles for the first time on April 7th! They will be performing at the Echoplex in Echo Park. Get your tickets soon! READ MORE

Many French directors’ films are being featured at the 14th Annual Dance Media Film Festival, which runs from April 30th to May 5th. Come see the West Coast premiere of Dancing is Living: Benjamin Millepied by French director Louis Wallecan, as well as Jiri Kylian: Forgotten Memories by directors Don Kent and Christian Dumais-Lvowski, and Natalianne Boucher’s film Continuum. There will be a French Film Festival at the Glendale Community College in Los Angeles. All films will be played with English subtitles. There will also be French cooking demonstrations and pastry tastings. The film festival is free and open to the public. READ MORE

The 19th COLCOA FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL will run April 20-28 at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles. Now a 9-day event, the festival will showcase a record of 68 films, including 3 World Premieres, 7 International Premieres, 14 North American or U.S. Premieres, 16 West Coast Premieres - and 20 new shorts. The largest French film festival in the world will introduce a new competition dedicated to films and series produced for television.

“The 100 Year Journey” is a multi-media experience about a descendant of genocide who returns back to his ancestral homeland 100 years later. This installation is a contemporary expression of ancient treasures discovered in the land, heritage and spiritual traditions. The exhibition will be on display from April 15-24, 2015 at the Zorayan Museum in Burbank, CA. There will also be an opening ceremony on Friday, April 17 at 7 pm. READ MORE
