The Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Houston is seeing some new faces this Fall. Ms Sylvie Christophe, Cultural Attaché, and Ms Jessica Fertinel, Deputy Cultural Attaché, have now left for new adventures: a warm welcome to our new Cultural Attaché Ms Marie Lozón de Cantelmi who started on September 1st, and to our new Deputy Cultural Attaché Virginie Le Tallec, arriving on November 1st! The Cultural Service is also accepting applications for a part-time internship position starting January 15th until March 30th, 2018 (applications accepted until November 19th, 2017).

Exhibition of 32 unique creations by traditional Mexican craftsmen, reinventing French brand Roche Bobois most iconic chairs through the use of local aesthetics and techniques.The “L’Artesanía de Vivir” exhibition, combining Mexican handcraft with French savoir-faire, will travel outside of Mexico for the first time to be displayed at the cavernous Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern in Houston. Free admission.

SAN ANTONIO, TX | NOV 9-DEC 31 | 6-9PM
“Beyond the Land of Minimal Possession” is a short movie project carried out by French artist Lili Reynaud-Dewar, in the framework of her artist residency program at Artpace San Antonio. The movie, set in Marfa, TX and the Texas desert, depicts a group of 8 young artists struggling to find meaning in their engagement in the field of visual arts.Opening reception on November 9 (6-9PM), exhibition on view through December 31, 2017.

Special screenings of the French production "Women of the Venezuelan Chaos" (Femmes du Chaos) will be hosted in various locations in Austin and Houston, in presence of French-Venezuelan filmmaker Margarita Cadenas.  The documentary, co-produced by Saludos Connection , follows the lives of five women as they face the Venezuelan crisis. Screenings open to the public with English subtitles.

Screening of the 2016 French, German and Polish film "Marie Curie The Courage of Knowledge", directed by Marie Noëlle, recalling the life of scientist and woman Marie Curie-Skłodowska.The screening, held at AMC Studio 30, is part of the 20th Annual Houston Polish Film Festival.
