2015 is off to an exciting start in the fields of visual and performing arts with many renowned French visitors coming to Texas. From January 18 to March 21, Dallas Contemporary will host « The Unplayed Notes Museum », a major solo exhibition by French artist, Loris Gréaud, Ricard Foundation Prize winner (2005). During the opening week of the exhibit, a panel discussion on “The Art Effect” will take place at UT Dallas with the participation of Nicolas Bourriaud, director of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and Eric Mangion, director of the National Art Center of the Villa Arson in Nice.
Paris-based choreographer Jérôme Bel is invited to the Contemporary Arts Museum in Houston in the framework of the exhibition “Double Life”. Don’t miss the performances of Cédric Andrieux and the artist talk on January 30 and 31. Following the opening of Albertine, the new reading room and bookstore at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New York, we are pleased to announce the launch of a « French corner »
at Brazos bookshop in Houston. A selection of books in French and translated French works will be available for purchase. Stay tuned for the announcement of a launch party at the end of the month ! In fall 2014, two sculptures by Auguste Rodin (1840–1917) quietly joined the menagerie of sculptures at the MFAH—one a voluptuous goddess named Cybele, the other, titled Le génie du repos éternel "Spirit of Eternal Repose". Anna Tahinci explores these new additions to the Cullen Sculpture Garden, as well as additional Rodin sculptures on view in the Museum’s galleries, in the context of the artist’s life and work.

The French Scupture Census is a national archival research initiative run jointly through Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Museums, UT Dallas and the Nasher Sculpture Center in the United States and the Musée d’Orsay, INHA, Paris, the Musée Rodin and the Ecole du Louvre in France. The French Voices Award ceremony will take place on January 21 at the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in New-York.
