April 25 - 27 @ Paramount Picture Studios, 5555 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles

Paris Photo Los Angeles, the US edition of the world’s celebrated art fair for works created in the photographic medium, will take place at Paramount Pictures Studios on April 25th-27th offering the ideal setting to explore how artists have been and are using photography and moving image in their work in the 20th and 21st centuries.

One year after the end of Ceci n'est pas..., the French Mission for Culture and Higher Education is to proud to be a partner of Sound and Vision: the Conversations an event that is part of this second edition of Paris Photo Los Angeles.

Ceci n'est pas... will bring artist Jean-Luc Moulène and Agnès Sire, Director of Fondation Henri Cartier-Bresson to this event organized by curator Douglas Fogle.

This year's Coachella event will be an exciting one as it includes a lineup of French artists which have recently been at the peak of their popularity. Woodkid, Laurent Garnier, Caravan Palace, DJ Falcon, Carbon Airways, Aron Ottignon, James Vincent McMorrow... will all be performing at the internationally acclaimed California festival.

Each Friday evening starting at 5 pm, Patricia Fernández will present a performative lecture that explores in greater depth a specific personal narrative or regional history connected with the memory archive she is creating for Points of Departure (between Spain and France). As Fernández makes objects that re-perform the experiences and memories of interviewees to create a non-linear narrative of historical events, so do her lectures in the gallery re-create these experiences and memories as a form of oral history.

French psyche-punk rock band La Femme will be performing at the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles on April 19.

After their performances in New York and at South by Southwest (SXSW), the band which is the new indie scene favorite, is touring for the first time on the West Coast.

The Center for the Arts of Performance at UCLA brings The Suit to Los Angeles. Renowned theater and film director Peter Brook and the French Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord brings us a music-filled adaptation of a story by South African writer Can Themba. The Suit is a tragic tale of betrayal and resentment as a scorned husband takes out his anger, pain and frustration on his wife.

April 18 and 20 @ The Roosevelt Hotel, Hollywood

This year spend Coachella with Maison Kitsuné! From April 14 to April 21st, Maison Kitsuné will take over the legendary Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood for a full week of Kitsuné. Find them in Room 100, a hushed setting of 70 square meters with a breathtaking view of the famous “Tropicana” swimming pool, an underwater mural painted by David Hockney. At the same time, a club night at Teddy's on April 18 and a pool party on April 20 will take place.

As part of 18th Street Arts Center’s core program, the Artist Labs series, Spanish-born, Los Angeles-based artist Patricia Fernández further develops her explorations of the geographic history that underpins generations of displacement and repression in Spain beginning with Franco’s dictatorship. In her project, Fernández investigates narratives from her land of origin through a series of walks over the Pyrenees.

Address Unknown is the novel published just before the outbreak of World War II, written as a series of letters between a Jewish art dealer living in San Francisco and his business partner who had returned to Germany in 1932. It is credited with exposing, early on, the dangers of Nazism to the American public. Two exceptionnal performances with French actors Patrick Timsit and Thierry Lhermitte.
