Dany Laferrière is one of today’s most original writers in French, rooted both in Haiti and Quebec. He is the first Quebecer and the second black writer, after Senegalese writer and statesman Léopold Sédar Senghor, to be inducted at the prestigious Académie française in Paris. The author of some 23 novels, he first made a mark in 1985 with a witty, semi-autobiographical novel How to Make Love to a Negro Without Getting Tired and later on, won the Prix Médicis in 2009 withThe Enigma of the Return.

LIVE BROADCAST IN 7 CITIES IN THE MIDWEST

This lecture will also be broadcast live in 7 cities as part of the Marianne Midwest Series, which provides a forum for distinguished cultural and political icons from France to engage audiences in Chicago, and to interact (via live teleconference broadcast) with audience members network in the Midwest. It consists of a series of web debates on contemporary topics, meant to bring together American and French points of view, and to reach Midwest partners.
