APPLICATION DEADLINE: AUGUST 18

The Cultural Service of the French Embassy in Houston partners with the Fénelon beaux-arts de Nantes association to create a two-month residency program in Marfa, TX in the Fall of 2019. The program will offer to one French artist a $6,000 grant as well as free accommodation and work spaces to deploy research and experimentation works in a unique geographical and historical environment. Applications are open until August 18th, midnight French time.

BASTILLE DAY

HOUSTON, TX | HOUSTON POLO CLUB | JULY 13 | 7PM-12AM

The Consulate General of France will celebrate Bastille Day, a festive event bringing together the French, American and international communities.

Guests will stroll through the beautiful grounds of the Houston Polo Club, learn a bit about France’s history and values with the traditional speech by the Consul General of France, watch a polo game, and play pétanque before the party officially begins with food trucks and music courtesy of DJ Julien Nolan. Ticket includes a glass of wine.

In the framework of "Dior: From Paris to the World", on view through September 1st, the Dallas Museum of Art presents two special evenings of talks, films, French music performances, tours, and more, highlighting the House of Dior’s impact on the fashion world.

FORT WORTH, TX | KIMBELL ART MUSEUM | JULY 21 & JULY 26

On July 21, enjoy free access to the temporary exhibition "Money: The Late Years", in the framework of Family Festival, a family-friendly event celebrating the art of Claude Monet and National Ice Cream Day.

In addition, Kimbell deputy director George T. M. Shackelford will be presenting on July 26 "Time and Monet", a free lecture open to the public, from 6 to 7PM.

The exhibition "Monet: The Late Years" is currently on view at the Kimbell, until September 15.

Opening on August 24 at the Harry Ransom Center, on the University of Texas at Austin campus, the special exhibition "Modernist Networks: The Annette Campbell-White Collection" showcases a private collection of artworks, letters, manuscripts and more, that chart creative influences across generations, disciplines, and continents. The exhibition includes original letters and manuscripts of French poets and writers Guillaume Apollinaire, André Breton, Stéphane Mallarmé, and Saint-Exupéry, among other figures.
