The French Scupture Census is a national archival research project run jointly through CISM and the Nasher Sculpture Center in the United States and the Musée d’Orsay, INHA, Paris, the Musée Rodin and the Ecole du Louvre in France. French artist Sylvie Blocher
will be presenting her new exhibition "The Color of Confusion" this Fall at the San Antonio Museum of Art. Born in France, Sylvie Blocher works from Ville de Saint Denis, at the periphery of Paris. In 1993 she authored the term Je Nous Sommes ( I We Are) and the idea of ULA (Universal Local Art). These concepts are made manifest in her continuing video series Living Pictures. In 1997 she and architect and urban planner François Daune founded the collaborative art and social action group Campement Urbain, which received a 2002 Evens Foundation International Prize for art/community collaboration.

Focus Danse is an event designed specifically to help foreign professionals discover the choreographic scene in France. Initiated in 2008, Focus Danse has been held three times with growing success, bringing together many professionals from 40 countries worldwide. For this fourth edition, Focus Danse wishes to extend even further its role as the international springboard for French dance. Organised by the Dance Biennale in Lyon and Onda, this edition offers professionals a four-day programme with 11 shows (including new works); platform sessions with artists; debates; and the presentation of European professional networks. The theme of this year’s event is openness. The programme blends the disciplines that address the question of
movement – dance, circus, visual arts – and expands its geographical horizons. Pia Agrawal, Program Director at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts is invited to participate in the Focus Danse at the Lyon Biennale. READ MORE |
