HOUSTON, TX I MARCH 13

Come and discover new sounds before SXSW in Houston with live performances by three French bands including The Dove and the Wolf, The Inspector Cluzo and Air Bag One and the local band Deep Cuts.

The concert is FREE and family-friendly

AUSTIN, TX I MARCH 13 - 22

This year again, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy are present at SXSW, the annual world-renowned celebration of music, film and digital culture. France will be widely represented in the official program of the three festivals, the Pavillion Business France in Trade Show (Business France) with 15 French start-ups and the French Tech Club which gathers and showcases the best of France in SXSW.

The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston presents the exhibition "Double Life" which features works by the internationally celebrated artists Jérôme Bel, Wu Tsang, and Haegue Yang. Are part of the exhibition Jérôme Bel's performance "Cédric Andrieux" and video "Véronique Doisneau".

The amateur French Theater troupe Et Voilà Théatre is presenting "Comme S'il En Pleuvait" (Out of Control), a play by Sébastien Thiéry. The play is presented in conjunction with the art exhibition "Beyond Appearances" curated by Marie-Hélène Chatelain during the entire month of March.

Compagnie Käfig will make its Houston debut at the Society for the Performing Arts in April 2015 showcasing "Correria Agwa". The French artistic director and choreographer Mourad Merzouki, lives for the creative revelations sparked at intersections of cultures, styles and disciplines. The compagnie gives master classes in local public schools during the month of March.

DALLAS, TX I UNTIL MARCH 21

Considered one of the most promising European artists of his generation, Loris Gréaud presents "The Unplayed Notes Museum" at Dallas Contemporary. This large-scale multi-media installation is on view until March 21.

Panel discussion on "The Art Effect" was organized at UT Dallas on January 15 with French participants Nicolas Bourriaud, Director of the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris and Eric Mangion, Director of the National Centre of Contemporary Art of the Villa Arson in Nice were in Dallas on this occasion, watch the video HERE.

"Becoming Modern: Nineteenth-Century French Drawings" is on view at the Menil Collection. This exhibition celebrates the remarkable holdings of French drawings at the Morgan Library & Museum and the Menil Collection, institutions with an ongoing collaboration to foster meaningful conversation about drawing. The show is comprised of 5 works on paper by the artists: Eugène Delacroix, Georges Seurat, Odilon Redon, Vincent Van Gogh and Paul Cézanne.

The three participating universities are the Texas Christian University (Fort Worth, TX), University of Arkansas (Fayetteville, AR) and Texas Tech University (Lubbock, Texas).

The Midland County Public Library hosted world-renowned picture book author and illustrator Hervé Tullet for the Texas premiere of his exhibition, “Mix it Up.” Coming from Paris, Hervé Tullet was in Midland last month and collaborated with students to create a giant mural.
