International Voices Project
celebrates the voices of global writers by presenting concert readings in collaboration with consulates, cultural institutions and theaters companies throughout the city of Chicago. These one night events highlight the voices of global writers, and provide audiences the opportunity to experience rarely seen plays and playwrights from around the world.
France presents Symptômes
written and translated in English by Gabriella Maione and directed by Beata Pilch of Trap Door Theatre.
Powerful and poetic,
Symptômes, is a deeply moving threnody inspired by the horrific aftermath of 9/11. Adopting the heightened prose of epic Greek tragedy, the play inventively explores and deconstructs the ideologies underlying the ‘war on terror’ that we currently face. Shocking, heartbreaking and poignant, Symptomes is a parable of our times.
French playwright Gabriella Maione is scheduled to be present at the performance.
Supported by the
Cultural Service at the Consulate General of France in Chicago in collaboration with Trap Door Theatre. FOR MORE INFORMATION & REGISTRATION
