The Cultural Service at the French Consulate in Houston invites all teachers of French to participate in a 3-hour workshop, dealing with "The Use of Songs in the French Classroom." The workshop will be led by Dominique Denis, master Teacher of French from Toronto, Canada.
The workshop is free. Registration is required.

Held every Summer at the University of North Texas, this program enables French teachers to earn 3-6 graduate credits. Each course is 3 credits and is taught over a two-week period on campus with an online component. Teachers may earn a M.A. in French through a combination of courses completed during the Summer and/or academic year with the possibility of a minor or 6 transfer credits.

The French Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) program offers American schools the chance to welcome young French educators to serve as teaching assistants in their institutions. The assistants lead conversation groups, attend language laboratories, research and create class materials, etc.

Celebrate "la Francophonie" with your students and participate in a writing contest! Pick three words among the 2014 Dis-Moi Dix Mots selection and make your students write original, weird, funny definitions of each word.

The WWI Centennial Partnership Program was established in 2012 by the French Government for the preparation and implementation of the commemorative program in honor of the WWI Centenary. It aims at coordinating and supporting public and private initiatives related to the centenary implemented in France and abroad, and at providing information and digital resources about the First World War.

Teachers (K-12, colleges, universities and Alliances Françaises) can now access the IF cinema platform of the Institut Français for educational purposes. More than 300 royalty-free films are available (fiction, documentaries, feature and short films, recent releases, cultural heritage films and films for young audiences) along with over 50 educational kits.

To have access to the films, teachers must register and have their educational project validated.

"Le Printemps des Poètes," whose theme this year is "Au Coeur des Arts" encourages everyone to celebrate poetry. Check out "Le Printemps des Poètes" official website and download pedagogical resources that will inspire you about in engaging students in poetry.

To celebrate "la Francophonie," the Oklahoma City Museum of Art presents a French movie festival featuring four French movies. The screening of "Le Tableau" is free for students of French. Invite you students to go watch a French movie!

EFGH (Education Française Greater Houston) French immersion Summer camps are designed for Francophone and Anglophone children from 5 to 12 years of age. Games, cooking sessions, crafts, songs : take your children to an amazing journey through French language and culture!

Eight public schools offer a French/English curriculum for about 1,000 students, making it the third-largest dual-language program, after Spanish and Chinese. And demand continues to grow, with two more schools scheduled to join this year and at least seven groups of parents in different areas of the city lobbying their schools to participate.

The Institute of International Education (IIE) wants hundreds of thousands more U.S. students to study abroad by the end of the decade. That's a tall order, even for an organization considered to be the leader in international education exchange.
