Bonjour à toutes et à tous,

C’est avec grand plaisir que j’ai rejoint le Consulat Général de France à Boston en tant que Chargée de mission de coopération éducative et linguistique le 1er février 2018. Je me sens privilégiée de pouvoir m’engager pour la promotion de l’enseignement du français et en français en Nouvelle-Angleterre. Le français a toujours occupé pour moi, comme pour vous j'en suis sûre, une place centrale dans mes études, ma vie professionnelle et mes passions.

Je suis sûre que les prochaines semaines nous donneront de très belles opportunités de travailler et de collaborer ensemble pour le rayonnement de la francophonie en Nouvelle-Angleterre.

The SPCD (Stages Pédagogiques de Courte Durée) program offers two-week summer trainings in France for teachers of French or teachers in a French dual language or immersion program.

This year, 20 grants are offered:

* Vichy: 14 positions for teachers of French as a foreign language.
* Besançon: 6 positions for teachers of Dual Language & Immersion programs.

To apply, you must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident and have at least an intermediate level of proficiency in French. If you have received a grant from the French Government over the last 3 years you may not apply for the SPCD grants.

L'université d'été du BELC offre à Nantes une formation intensive pour les professionnels de l'enseignement du français exerçant en France ou à l'étranger.  

Sur deux semaines ou un mois, découvrez ou approfondissez de nouvelles pratiques pédagogiques à travers un parcours à la carte combinant différents modules de formation.  

L’université BELC propose également trois forums (Forum culturel, Forum professionnel sur les métiers du FLE, Forum : Le voyage à Nantes), un cycle de conférences et de rencontres professionnelles, et des ateliers de pratiques artistiques ou de développement personnel.

Festinema Junior is an annual nationwide French film festival and educational program designed for children and adolescents, created by the Alliance Française network in the U.S. It is part of Kids Trail, a program initiated by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the U.S. and the FACE Foundation.

Now in its 5th edition, Festinema Junior will feature this year:

- Les 4 Saisons de Léon (2014)
- Le Roi et l'Oiseau (1979)
- Polina, Danser sa Vie (2016)
- Swagger (2016)

All the screenings scheduled are entirely free for the participating schools and the Alliance Francaise network provides them with educational portfolios for each film, which include pre-screening and post-screening activities.

For many years, as part of the world wide celebration of the “Mois de la Francophonie”, the Consulate General of France in Boston has organized a fun day of French activities for middle school and high school students in Massachusetts. The Consulate General of France continues to support this event, but due to an administrative change, will not be able to organize the event this year. So, the AATF and a couple of French educators and Francophiles have stepped up to the task.

The event will start at 9 am. Students must arrive between 8:30 and 8:50 am.

From 9:30 to 11 a.m., students will participate in fun activities in French. Each participating school will be asked to prepare a 5 minute cultural show in French based on a Francophone country. It could be a poem, a song, a dance or a skit. Note that this is an opportunity, not an obligation.

Immediately after the presentations, schools will enjoy a concert by the Franco-Togolais artist, Brice Kapel. Prizes will be awarded after the show. The celebration will conclude at 12:30 p.m.

IF profs, réseau social des professionnels de l’éducation francophone, est disponible depuis le mois de juillet 2017 pour les États-Unis. Ce réseau se concentre sur le partage de ressources pédagogiques et d’informations professionnelles.

Les objectifs principaux de ce site sont :
- Fédérer la communauté des professionnels  de l’enseignement du français aux États-Unis,
- Partager des ressources pour l’enseignement du français à différents publics,
- Vulgariser la recherche en didactique des langues,
- Informer sur les carrières et le cadre législatif des métiers de l'enseignement (credentials, visas, déontologie),
- Diffuser des offres d’emploi et de formation.

“Créolité et environnement aux Antilles francophones” is the theme of the upcoming Convention of the American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) that will take place in Martinique next July. The tentative schedule includes a general session entitled "L'Histoire de la Martinique," seminars such as "Aimé Césaire, la Négritude et la Martinique" and "La Culture créole : cuisine, traditions, argot français-créole," but also interesting excursions and a cooking demonstration. To attend the Convention, registration must be completed by May, 15.

Launched by the President of the French Republic and implemented by the Institut français, "Mon idée pour le français" serves to collect ideas from all over the world on the use of the French language and plurilingualism.

The authors of the most innovative proposals will be invited to Paris to present their idea for implementation of a plan in favor of the French language and plurilingualism.

On February 14-15, two days of exchanges between public and private actors involved in promoting the French language abroad will complete this online worldwide consultation.
