DIJON, FRANCE I SEPTEMBER

Following French artist Hugo Capron's Summer residency in Dallas at the Southern Methodist University (SMU) Meadows School of Art, American artist Melissa Tran is going to Dijon, France for two months. This exchange program is organized in partnership with the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Art de Dijon, le Consortium, FRAC Bourgogne and SMU.

MARFA, TX I SEPTEMBER 1 - OCTOBER 31

Swiss artist, Simone Holliger will be in residency at Fielwork: Marfa, a program lead by the School of Fine Arts of Nantes and HEAD Geneva. Her drawings are both the vestiges and the future of new instruments. They act as measuring tools and weights, bringing into balance the space over which they preside.

HOUSTON, TX I FALL 2015

This course takes students on an artistic journey to Paris, its arts scenes, and museums. Parisian museums have long functioned not merely as sites for the preservation and presentation of art, but also as emblems of national identity, reservoirs of collective memory, and centers for public education. Taught by Anna Tahinci at the Glassell School of Art, the course "Museums in Paris: Behind the Scenes" is still open for registration.

This new publication is the first of four volumes in the catalogue raisonné of Francis Picabia (1879–1953), one of the most significant, challenging artists of the 20th century. The works in Volume I range from Picabia’s early pieces as an Impressionist in the 1890s to his Cubist and abstract paintings of 1912–14, which constitute landmarks in the history of modern art.

Born in Paris in 1951, Pierre Lemaitre has established himself as a standout writer of the French contemporary roman noir genre. In 2013, Lemaitre was awarded the Prix Goncourt, France's most prestigious liteary award for "Au revoir là-haut". The English translation "The Great Swindle" will be released in the United States by MacLehose Press.

Fiston Mwanza Mujila's writings have been awarded numerous prizes, including the Gold Medal at the 6th Jeux de la Francophonie in Beirut as well as the Best Text for Theater in 2010. His first novel "Tram 83" was a French Voices 2014 grant recipient. The English translation will be published by Deep Vellum (Dallas).

Born in Senegal in 1957, Marc Dugain worked in finance before becoming an entrepreneur in aeronautics. He began his literary career at 35 with "La Chambre des Officiers (The Officers’ Ward), a book inspired by his grandfather's experience during WWI which was adapted into a film in 2001 by François Dupeyron. Marc Dugain received numerous literary prizes in France. He will take part in the Texas Book Festival in Austin.
