DALLAS, TX I OCTOBER 16-18

Ange Leccia is a major artist, one of the pioneers of video art in France. Since the early 1980s, his work has explored the human dimension through the combination of light and images. An outdoor video project by Ange Leccia presented by the Dallas Contemporary will take place in multiple locations throughout Downtown Dallas.

The project, sponsored by the Institut Français, will commence with a one-night multi-media event Aurora on October 16th and continue with a Chit Chat Series at the Joule Hotel on October 18th.

DALLAS, TX I OCTOBER 3 - FEBRUARY 7, 2016

In collaboration with architect Edwin Chan, artist Piero Golia completely transformed the Nasher Sculpture Center’s Corner Gallery into a luxurious gathering space that integrates architecture, entertainment, and works of art by French artist, Pierre Huyghe, as well as Mark Grotjahn, Jeff Wall, and Christopher Williams.

HOUSTON, TX I OCTOBER 3 - NOVEMBER 28

Recipient of an award from the Versailles Foundation, Mark Fox spent three months living and working on the grounds of the Monet Foundation at Giverny focusing on underwater photography in the famed lily pond - this "unseen garden". The resulting journal pays homage to Monet’s practice of studying the effects of temporal shifts on a single subject. Exhibition at Hiram Butler Gallery.

HOUSTON, TX, OKLAHOMA CITY, OK I OCTOBER 9-10 & 22

This documentary follows French filmmaker Franck Ribière and his friend, renowned French butcher, Yves-Marie Bourdonnec, as they travel the world in search of the best steaks and focus their discourse on the methods of breeding, specially the grass-fed model.
The first screening at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston will be followed by a post-film panel discussion on October 9th.
The OKC Museum of Art will start the evening with a wine tasting prior to this one-night only screening on October 22nd.

FORT WORTH, TX | OCTOBER 13

The Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth presents the documentary Sans Soleil, a travelogue of sorts that stretches the genre of documentary as it roams the globe, principally between Japan and Africa, reflecting on memory, time, and travel. This documentary is a meditation on the nature of memory in an essay-like format composed of thoughts, images, and scenes from different parts of the world by French writer, photographer, documentary film director, multimedia artist and film essayist, Chris Marker.

AUSTIN, TX I OCTOBER 31

Direct 2 Series - a showcase dedicated to French television series - will open its 3rd edition in Los Angeles on October 27-28 with the US screening premiere of "The Bureau", a TV series created by French film director and screenwriter Eric Rochant. The Austin Film Festival will extend this initiative on October 31st with a panel discussion on French TV dramas and a screening sponsored by the Cultural Services of the French Embassy.

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States, in partnership with Kickstarter and OrgSync, have established the France on Campus Award under the patronage of film director Wes Anderson to celebrate and support initiatives that explore France in new and creative ways. The Award is intended to help student organizations, eager to launch or continue a major France-related project on campus, by providing a unique package of funding, mentoring and networking. With this support, awardees will be expected to expose new audiences to France and French culture on their campus and beyond.

The call for applications is open to student organizations affiliated with an American college or university.
