In honor of this occasion, the Consulate General of France in New Orleans is launching, with its partners, a collaborative project without precedent: BeFrench.org

BeFrench.org features a common calendar designed to include events from any French, Francophone, or Francophile organizations across Louisiana. Major institutions, schools, and community groups alike can find all the events happening around French in Louisiana - and add their own! - beginning this March and all year-round.

HUMUS ON STAGE

Fabienne Kanor is a French writer and director currently in residence in New Orleans. Her novel, Humus, will be, for the first time, translated in English and shown on stage, with the help of Prof. Jean Brager from LSU. MARDI GRAS

Since the founding of the Consulate General of France in New Orleans in 1803, and for the first time in the history of Louisiana’s Mardi Gras, Consul General Grégor Trumel was honored to be the first of his title to ride in the parades.

For his first Mardi Gras season in Louisiana, Mr. Trumel participated as a guest of two parades: the Children's Parade in Alexandria and Rex in New Orleans. This momentous occasion truly reflected the spirit of friendship, tradition, and excitement between France and Louisiana.

TULANE ENVIRONMENTAL LAW SUMMIT

Consul General Grégor Trumel will be speaking at the “20th Annual Summit on Environmental Law and Policy” held by Tulane University Law School’s Environmental and Energy Law Society.

The event will take place on Friday, February 27 at 10am.

Mr. Trumel will be discussing the Conference on Climate Change in Paris (COP21), an international assembly set to take occur from November 30 to December 11 of this year.

THE CONSUL GENERAL VISITS NORTHERN LOUISIANA

From January 21 to 23, 2015, the Consul General of France in Louisiana, Gregor Trumel, and the Attaché of Cooperation and Education, Raymond Hinz, traveled to the north of the state. The trip included stops in Ruston, Poverty Point, Monroe, and Shreveport.

On January 22, during a moving reception held at Centenary College, three veterans of the Second World War were honored with the Legion of Honor Medal for their service: Mr. Rollin H. Cochran, Mr. Ethan A. Gillispe, and Dr. William C. Wilkins, Jr.

EDUCATION

The deadline to sign up online for the academic contest « The Environment in My School: In Louisiana, We Care ! » is now March 1, 2015 !

In anticipation of the Paris Conference on Climate Change in December 2015, the Consulate General of France and CODOFIL propose a contest destined for all levels of elementary and middle school classes in immersion or FLE programs. Financial support will be offered to selected projects.
